RENO COUNTY —One person died in an accident just before 10a.m. Thursday in Reno County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2007 Chevy Silverado driven by Bryon Michael Young, 27, Hutchinson, was eastbound on K96 three miles east of Haven.
The pickup rear-ended a 2013 Peterbilt semi driven by Robert Francis Heimerman, 57, Conway Springs., who slowed to make a right turn onto Worthington Road.
A passenger in the pickup identified as Brian Lee Garza, 43, Hutchinson, was pronounced dead at the scene. EMS transported young to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. Heimerman was not injured. The KHP had incomplete seatbelt usage information.

HAVEN, Kan. — Eastbound K-96 was closed east of Haven due to a fatal accident involving a truck and a semi near K-96 and Worthington on Feb. 23.
According to Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) Lt. Aaron McGuire, the KHP were called about 10 a.m. to the site.
Lt. McGuire said the semi was eastbound and attempting to make a turn on to southbound Worthington as a truck was driving behind it.
The truck behind the semi did not slow down enough and struck the rear of the semi.
A passenger in the truck died. The driver was taken to a local hospital.
The driver of the semi was not hurt badly enough to transport.
