HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Kansas Honor Flight said their Pancake Fundraiser was a success March 11 as they were able to fund four veterans to go on a Kansas Honor Flight trip to Washington, D.C. to see their memorials.
“We had 300 people attend even though we were competing with the KU Basketball game on television,” Steve Bowman with Kansas Honor Flight said.
Kansas Honor Flight’s next big event will be their community Applebee’s Fundraiser on April 18.
“We had done a couple fundraisers with the Hutchinson Applebee’s and they were very successful,” Bowman said. “Wade Phillips, the Applebee’s Regional Manager, contacted us about doing it at all 15 of their locations.”
On April 18, these 15 Kansas Applebee’s locations will take part in the fundraiser with the Kansas Honor Flight: Hutchinson, McPherson, Newton, Andover, Salina, Park City, Hays, Great Bend, Liberal, Garden City, Dodge City, Derby, and three Wichita locations at Ridge Road, S. Broadway, and North Rock Road.
When customers order, they will be able to choose from five items added to the special fundraiser menu. Kansas Honor Flight will receive 50% of the revenue from those items. That revenue will be used to send a veteran on an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.
The fundraiser will run all day for dine-in, delivery, and to-go orders. Additionally, Kansas Honor Flight volunteers will be at each location during lunch and dinner times to tell patrons about Kansas Honor Flight and the Applebee’s Fundraiser.
