HUTCHINSON, Kan. — As school is under way four Reno County school districts are starting or continuing virtual academy programs.
Hutchinson USD 308 kicked off its first year of virtual school with 112 students. Buhler USD 313 is in its first year of the Ad Astra Academy with a total enrollment of 50 students.
Two Reno County school districts have had virtual schools for some time. In USD 312 Haven, their virtual school enrolled 37 students for the year while the Central State Academy in Nickerson USD 309 has around 75 students.
Hutchinson and Buhler jumped on board with the virtual format after many students felt they excelled in that type of learning.
Online learning became popular for many students during remote classes brought on by the pandemic.
