SEDGWICK COUNTY—A Kansas felon accused in a Thanksgiving week fatal crash made his first court appearance this week.

Dalton Huffman, 30, was charged with involuntary manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident and driving while suspended, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.

Just after 10p.m. November 22, a pickup driven by Huffman was southbound near Central and Ridge Road in Wichita, according to police. The pickup collided with a northbound vehicle driven by 24-year-old Anastasia Carter of Wichita.

EMS transported both drivers to an area hospital where Carter was pronounced deceased. Huffman was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and booked into jail on Thanksgiving.

Huffman has a previous conviction for drug possession in Ford County, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections. He is being held jailed on $250,000 bond, according to the district attorney's office.
