Police ID scooter rider struck and killed in hit-and-run crash

KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement  investigating a fatal hit-and-run  that occurred just just before 2:30a.m. Saturday in Kansas City, Missouri have identified the victim asm 60-year-old Arthur C. Lee, according to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a  black TAO Motors scooter driven by Lee was traveling southeast on Martin Luther King Boulevard making a left turn onto Eastwood Trafficway with a green traffic control signal, according to Kansas City Police Sergeant Phil DiMaratino.

An unknown type of dark colored vehicle was traveling northwest on Martin Luther King Boulevard.  The unknown vehicle failed to stop for the red traffic control signal, entering the intersection and struck the scooter. The impact ejected Lee from the scooter.

The striking vehicle left the scene of the collision without stopping. Lee was pronounced deceased at the scene. This is fatality #15 compared to #11 at this time last year, according to DiMartino.
