🏀 MBB: HutchCC drops Top 15 clash to Barton

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The No. 14-ranked HutchCC men's basketball team saw its four-game win streak come to an end on Wednesday, losing to No. 6 Barton, 102-80 inside the Sports Arena.

Hutchinson (14-3, 9-2 KJCCC) struggled to knock down shots early in the game, while Barton built a double-digit lead and never looked back. The Blue Dragons went scoreless for over five minutes in the opening  half.

J.P. Ricks led the way for the Blue Dragons with a career-high 22 points, while Dre Weathers had 17. Kobe Smith chipped in 14 off the bench and Tino Simon finished with 10.

Barton (16-1, 10-1) shot 54 percent from the floor, while knocking down 26-of-34 from the free-throw line. The Cougars also out-rebounded the Blue Dragons, 43-34. 

Hutchinson also got to the foul line often, hitting 25-of-30 from the charity stripe.

The Cougars were led by Keandre Kindell with 22 points off the bench, while Myles Thompson finished with 19. Cooper Jackson (14 points), Christian Bowen-Webb (11 points) and Lajae Jones (10 points) all finished in double figures, as well.

The Blue Dragons host Garden City on Saturday evening in the Sports Arena for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff. The game will be broadcasted on KHUT-FM (102.9), as well as video on the Blue Dragon Sports Network.
