HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Stacy Goss joined USD 308 a couple of weeks ago as the Director of Communications, Marketing, and Public Relations.
"I maintain the Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages, all of the social media pages, to make sure we're getting out good information in a good time. I also work on newsletters, magazines, kind of prepping things for the school year, redoing handbooks right now. There's a lot of behind the scenes work being done during the summer months."
Goss is looking forward to telling the Salthawk story at all levels.
"You have so many awesome things that are happening in and around Hutch that these kids are coming together for," Goss said. "Last year, we had some really great statistics with volleyball, basketball, debate and forensics, the KidWind team. It's not just our high schoolers and middle schoolers but our elementary students are really doing some awesome things, as well."
Goss knows that there will also be challenges to let the public know about, like the transition to one fewer elementary school in the coming year.
"Right now, with the closure of the Lincoln Elementary School, we have been surveying families to figure out what type of transportation have they been using, what type of transportation do they want and expect for the upcoming school year, how is this change going to impact them in tweaking the rules, getting rid of school uniforms at McCandless, things like that, that the administration and the school board are trying to make the best of a bad situation and trying to hear from as many families and voices and community stakeholders, so they can make the best decisions."
