Vera Florine Fox, 83, died Monday, October 9, 2023 at Wise Health System in Decatur, Texas.
She was born May 19, 1940 in Ashland, Kansas, the daughter of Bert Earl and Margaret Josephine (Degnan) Fox. She was a graduate of Ashland High School. She retired from the City of Dodge City Parks Department. Vera was a member of The Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge City, Kansas.
Survivors include: Glenda Waller, Wichita, KS, Phil Heiland and wife Patti, Spring Branch, TX, Brenda Spence, Newton, KS, Angela Heiland-Hirt and husband Brian, Springtown, TX, Jennifer Heiland, Dodge City, KS and her beloved Shih-Tzu, Precious, Springtown, TX; Grandchildren: Travis Windholz (Jennifer) Houston, TX, Nick Dieter (Molly) Lincoln, NE, Levi Benjamin (Mary) Spearville, KS, Clint Benjamin (Angela) Fort Scott, KS, Nicole Deckard (Henry) Valley Center, KS, Ryan Spence (Whitney) Haysville, KS, Shelby Kraus (Ron) Wichita, KS, Aaron Heiland (Chelsey), Oklahoma City, OK, Tevin Heiland, Springtown, TX, Jorden Gagnebin (Devin) Hutchinson, KS, Travis Hirt (Kimberly) Strafford, MO, Amber Ward (Cody) Spring Branch, TX, Aubrey Droste (Conner) Dodge City, KS, Shanell Griffin (Dillon) Lubbock, TX, KeShaun Heiland, North Dakota and 34 Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Gregory Ethan Heiland, her companion, Leo Martinez, three sisters, Ida McCloskey, Maxine Pendergast, and Marian Legg, one brother, Franklin Fox and grandson, Terell Brown.
Vigil service will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Funeral Mass will be at 2:00 pm Friday October 20, 2023 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City with Fr. Wesley Schawe Presiding. The Mass will be live streamed through the church’s Facebook page. Burial will follow in Greencrest Memorial Gardens, Dodge City. Visitation will be Thursday from noon to 7:00pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel.
