Nell Pruitt, 80 passed away peacefully, Saturday January 27th. She was born March 25,1943 in Hutchinson, daughter of Lawson C and Elfie Mae (Worth) Britain.

Nell graduated Hutchinson High School in 1961. She went on to Beauty School where she dyed her hair pink and gave at home color jobs to the girls in the family. You’ll still find her pink school brush in the bathroom drawer. Nell loved being a homemaker, she was also a master gardener with beautiful blooms year-round. Nell enjoyed sewing and was quite good. She would re-upholster furniture and sew clothes for her family, even the granddaughter’s dolls. Nell would make special fun birthday cakes for the kids. Don and Nell loved Christmas baking together for family and friends. Following her love of cooking and food, she was the Superintendent of the Foods Department at the Kansas State Fair Domestic Arts Building for many years. Nell was also an avid volunteer for the American Red Cross Blood Drives for many years.

Nell married Brian Cole in 1962; they had two daughters, Renee and Penny. She married Don Pruitt, the love of her life in July 1983 and gained 6 stepchildren.

She is survived by daughter, Renee Nulf; granddaughter, Kylie Pitts (Chris); great grandchildren, Kinley and Tanner; granddaughter, Stephanie Nulf; great grandchildren, Lilly and Carter; daughter, Penny Cole (Scott Clark); granddaughter, Jenna Potter (Matt); great grandchildren, Loghanne Olsen and Braelynn Woller, Everett, Asher and Gracelyn; granddaughter, Maddie Clark; stepdaughter, Debra Hindle (Dave); granddaughter, Jennifer Steckler (Kyle); great grandchildren, Jack, Mati, Gracie; grandson, David Ryan Hindle; great grandchildren, Tabi and Brayden; granddaughter, Mary Lynn Dunlap; great grandchildren, Julian, Grady and Maddox; stepdaughter, Brenda Nakano (Mon); granddaughter, Marcia Milam (Rob); great grandchildren, Colin and Heath; grandson, Adam Nachtigal; grandson, Jacob Nachtigal (Crystal Taylor); great grandchildren, Keona and Andrew Nachtigal; stepdaughter, Peggy Ayres (Terry); granddaughter, Natalie Dennis (Mike); great grandchild, Mataiya; granddaughter, Natasha Marchand (Shane); great grandchildren, Emma Warnecke and Hadley Marchand; grandson, Aaron Nachtigal (Kelsey); great grandchildren, Charlotte and Ruby; stepdaughter, Diane Gilbert (Brad); stepdaughter, Lisa Pruitt; grandson, Mike Green; granddaughter, Mika Stilwell (Samuel); great grandchildren, Charles, Sterling, Theo and Marley; grandson, Leon Green; stepson, Mark Pruitt; grandson, William Demoret; grandson, Christopher Pruitt (Haley); great grandchildren, Riley, Anna, Canson and Presle; grandson, Andrew Pruitt (Aurora); great grandchildren, Carter and Rocklyn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Pruitt; her parents and four brothers.

Come celebrate Jeanell's life with us. Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery. Lunch immediately follows at the Homebuilders Shelter in Carey Park.
