Arlene Grace Schroeder, 89, of Inman, Kansas, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024 surrounded by family at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center in Hutchinson. She was born on August 22, 1934 in rural Inman, Kansas, to Curt T. and Sarah (Androes) Regehr.
She graduated from Inman High School with the class of 1952. Arlene later served in 1-W service in Newtown, Connecticut.
Arlene was united in marriage to Lewis D. Schroeder on December 28, 1970 at the Bethel Mennonite Church, Inman.
She was a devoted homemaker and worked as a cook at the Inman High School for several years.
Arlene was a member of Bethel Mennonite church in Inman, where she was a longtime Sunday School teacher and was involved in the Friendship Circle. She made many quilts for her children and grandchildren. She also volunteered at the Et Cetera Shop in Hutchinson.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Lewis, of the home; five children, Beverly (Scott) Davis of Salome, AZ, Bonnie (Rich) Jennings of Newport, WA, Brenda (Kevin) Meyer of Wichita, Becky (Terry) Webster of Inman, and Jeremy (Kathleen) Schroeder of Flagstaff, AZ; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Marie Regehr of Inman, and Janet Schroeder of Springfield, MO.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Zachary Riffel; three brothers, Virgil Regehr, Robert Regehr and Henry Regehr; and sister, LaVera Neufeld.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Bethel Mennonite Church, Inman. The services will be livestreamed at www.bethelinman.org. Private burial will be held at North Inman Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 11, at Buhler Mortuary.
