Raphael “Ray” Nicholas Gehlen, 79, of Medicine Lodge, KS, died Thursday, August 15, 2024 at his residence.
He was born on July 12, 1945 in St. Leo, KS, the son of Charles Gehlen and Helen (Youngers) Gehlen.
On September 30, 1967, he married Lurinda Lee (Chance) Gehlen in Medicine Lodge, KS. She preceded him in death on May 22, 2019.
Surviving are one son, Tony (Lydia) Gehlen of Medicine Lodge, KS; two daughters, Nicole (Ian) Mull of Heath, OH and Marsha (Shawn) Finch of Medicine Lodge, KS; Nine grandchildren, Leyann (Kyle) Wampler, Mya (Brayden Hellerud) Gehlen, Katlin (Andy) Gehlen, Shilae Bland, Shiloe Bland, Stephen (Amber) Finch, Aaleyah Finch, Angel Arredondo, and Ruben Arredondo; Eleven great-grandchildren, Jaxton, Dryden, Ava, Elam, Talia, Lillian, Layla, Meyah, Douglas, Kendrick, and Reese;
one brother, Arnold (Sharon) Gehlen; four sisters, Dolores (Kenneth) Hudson, Catherine Wooten, Virginia Horn, and Elizabeth (Bill) Mosiman; two brother-in-laws, Tim (Janet) Chance and Jerry Chance; several nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a great-grandson, Myles, two brothers, Alphons and Edward Gehlen and two sisters, Alma Weber and Sister Lillian Gehlen.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Assembly of God Church, Medicine Lodge, KS with Pastor Rodney Worsham officiating.
