HUTCHINSON,Kan. — If you would like to vote in the Presidential Preference Primary on March 19, it's probably best to pay attention to the dates for deadlines that Hutch Post received this week from Reno County Deputy Elections Clerk Jenna Fager.

"The deadline to register to vote, or to update your voter registration information, or to change your party affiliation, the deadline for that is going to be Feb. 20," Fager said. "That is also the last day to apply for an advance voting mail ballot. Once that deadline passes, for this election we cannot receive any of those mail in ballot applications."

Those who would need to change their affiliation by Feb. 20 are non-Republicans who want to vote on the Republican side or non-Democrats who want to vote on the Democratic side.

"The other deadline is Feb. 28," Fager said. "That's the first day of advance voting. We will also mail out all of the advance mail ballots that we had received applications for."

Advance voting will be ongoing during regular weekday business hours at the Reno County Annex through noon the day before, on Mar. 18.
