
As if wheat farmers didn't have enough to worry about, here comes a couple of "Gotchas".
The wheat curl mite has been showing up for about a month now. It's a tiny insect that carries wheat streak mosaic and other wheat diseases.

The weather has been perfect for the spread of both the insect and disease, and experts at K-State say that this may be the worst outbreak in eight years.
Volunteer plants from hailstorms, cover crops, and double cropping have all contributed to the problem.
