
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Friday afternoon brought another electrical fire to Hutchinson. Just after 5 p.m. firefighters were called to 509 Green Garden Drive for the report of a small fire in a residential building.
When they got there, crews saw light smoke showing from a small hole in the exterior wall near the electrical box. There was a small fire in the walls and attic near the electrical panel. Crews made access to the fire and quickly put out the fire with minimal water. The wall and ceiling sustained damage in the firefighting efforts. Evergy arrived on scene and was able to disconnect the power to the home.
The two occupants of the home noticed the smoke and call 911 after their fuses blew. The two occupants were able to escape without injury. No firefighter injuries were reported throughout the incident. The cause of the fire was ruled electrical.
