The USD 308 Board of Education will consider several purchases tied to the expansion of the district’s Lil’ Hawks Early Learning Program when it meets Monday evening, along with discussing next steps for a potential new bond issue.

Among the items on the superintendent’s consent agenda is a request to replace aging interactive classroom boards used in preschool classrooms and conference spaces throughout the Lil’ Hawks program.

District administration is seeking approval for a $45,899.50 purchase from Kansas City Audio-Visual to replace 20 existing Clear Touch boards, including 17 classroom interactive boards and three conference room boards.

According to agenda documents, the current boards have experienced ongoing performance and functionality issues that have begun impacting classroom instruction and staff use.

District officials said the boards are used daily to support instruction, family engagement, staff collaboration, and curriculum implementation within preschool classrooms. The replacements are intended to ensure reliable technology is available for the 2026-2027 school year.

Also on the consent agenda is the approval of the relocation of playground equipment from Park Place Church to Lincoln Center as part of the district’s expansion of early learning services.

The move is necessary because Head Start classrooms currently housed at Park Place Church will transition to Lincoln Center for the 2026-2027 school year. Under the district’s memorandum of understanding with the church, the playground equipment must be removed and the area restored at the end of the partnership.

Administration received quotes from two playground companies and is recommending Aspire2Play for the project, citing a significantly lower cost proposal that still met project requirements and scheduling needs.

In additional items related to the Lil’ Hawks expansion, the board will consider purchasing $35,268 in furniture for four classrooms at Lincoln Center, along with $33,903.01 in classroom supplies for those same classrooms.

Board members are also expected to discuss next steps regarding a proposed bond issue that could eventually be presented to district voters.
