Larry Dean Pepperd, 69, died July 31, 2023, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, KS. He was born September 23, 1953, in Pratt, KS, to Dwight and Shirley Maxine (Heape) Pepperd.
Larry was a 1971 graduate of Goddard High School, Goddard, KS. He served in the United States Army from May 1971 to September 1975. Larry was an over-the-road truck driver his entire life.
He was a member of the Guardians of the Children, an advocate group for abused and neglected children. Larry also served as a mentor for children in the Hutchinson school system. He had a servant’s heart, especially for children.
Larry is survived by: his longtime companion, Rose M. McMahon of Hutchinson, KS; stepmother, Ruby Pepperd of Coldwater, KS; brothers, Paul (Karen) Pepperd of Kingman, KS, and A.J. Pepperd of Wichita, KS; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jenny Pepperd.
Celebration of Life gathering will be held at a future date. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday at Elliott Mortuary Cremation has taken place.
