HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The City of Hutchinson Public Works Department announced on June 13 that West 20th Avenue near the North Adams Street intersection will be closed for repairs.
On Saturday, June 10 at 3:12 p.m., a water line break was reported on West 20th Ave, just east of North Adams Street. The break was caused when an outside contractor made incidental contact with the eight-inch water line that was installed in 2010.
The incident left 22 customers without service. Public Works staff worked throughout the day and restored water to all customers by 8:30 p.m.
Public Works said West 20th Avenue will be closed until a contractor makes repairs to the street.
The contractor is expected to be on-site on or before June 27.
According to Public Works, this was water line break number 19 in 2023.
