Dixie L. Versolenko of Valley Center, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.
She was born on Monday, January 21, 1946 to James and Marcia (Henricks) Snavely of Neodesha, Kansas. She graduated from Valley Center High School in 1964 and completed her Bachelor of Science Degree at Friends University, Wichita, Kansas in 1992. Dixie married Ace H. Todd in 1967.
She was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and then AT&T from 1968 to 1998. After retiring she moved to Salem, Oregon. Dixie found love again and married Alvin G. Versolenko in her Salem home on May 20, 2000.
They soon moved to rural Monmouth, Oregon, which Dixie discovered her passion for horses. They owned Hidden Haven Horse Ranch for six years until Dixie's accident with one of her horses which tempered her enthusiasm.
They then moved into Dallas, Oregon in 2007. Dixie also had a love of dogs and there were always at least two running under her feet or lying on her lap. Dixie and Al enjoyed traveling with their fifth wheel all over the United States.
Dixie delighted in her flower beds and spent many hours working in them. She loved visiting and laughing with family and friends. Her hobbies included dancing, reading, sewing, movies and spending time in the mountains of Oregon.
Dixie and Alvin divorced in 2018, and she relocated to Harlingen, Texas, residing there for four years. She then returned to her home town of Valley Center, Kansas where she finally truly enjoyed retirement and being single.
Preceding Dixie in death were her parents. Surviving her is her family of friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 5, 10:00 a.m., at Baker Funeral Home Chapel, 100 S. Cedar, Valley Center, Kansas.
