LeRoy A. ‘Sonny’ Blew, 88, of Hutchinson, died May 23, 2024, at his home. He was born January 6, 1936, in rural Reno County, to Elzie Bernard and Elsie (Miller) Blew.

He spent many years as a truck driver for Dillons. LeRoy was a member of several organizations, including the Central Kansas Gun Club, the Hutch Bunch RC Club, and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He enjoyed riding motorcycles with his wife.

LeRoy was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He attended Partridge Community Church.  LeRoy served for eight years in the Kansas Army National Guard.

On August 17, 1956, he married Shirley Ann Hirst, in Partridge, KS. They shared over 67 years of marriage before his passing.

LeRoy is survived by:  his wife, Shirley A. Blew, Hutchinson; daughters, Cindy Engstrom and LeAnn (Brian) Robertson, Hutchinson; grandsons, Kyle (Jenny) Robertson, Wamego, KS, Dale Engstrom and Kelly (Jana) Engstrom, Wichita, KS; great-grandchildren, Alan, Amelia, Amara, Parker, and Avery; and sister, Ina Baltzell, Colorado Springs, CO.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Letha J. Wood, and brother-in-law, Chuck Baltzell.

Cremation has taken place, and per LeRoy’s request, there will be no services.  Friends may sign his book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2004 through Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Elliott Mortuary.
