LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The trial of an Indiana man who was driving and hit a Nickerson family when they were in town for a basketball tournament in Kentucky in 2022 has been pushed back once more.

According to updated information Monday from Erran Huber with the office of the Commonwealth's Attorney in Louisville, Kentucky, the next hearing for Michael Hurley is now scheduled for August, with a tentative trial date in October.

Hurley was on probation in Indiana for drug-related charges at the time of the crash, according to court documents detailing his criminal history.

The crash killed Nickerson coach Trey Jones and injured his wife Amy and their daughter Ava. Ava remains on scholarship at the University of Iowa, though she announced earlier this spring that she is no longer going to attempt to return to basketball.
