HUTCHINSON, Kan. — With the heat on for the next few days, a great place to go is STRATACA, the Kansas Underground Salt Museum.

"It is always 68 degrees underground but I would recommend making your reservations ahead of time," said Rachel Terry with STRATACA. "We have been selling out all summer. Make your reservations ahead of time at underkansas.org."

One exception is those with the Sunflower Summer app. You can get in with that with your kids, but going on a morning during the week is probably best, and since it is space available, you need to go early in the day.

"This is our first year on the Sunflower program," Terry said. "It is an amazing program sponsored by the state of Kansas. Get there as soon as doors open so we can get you on a tour."

STRATACA also found out this week that the museum has been named a 2024 Travelers' Choice Award Winner.

"We are very excited about this award," Terry said. "Not only are we ranked number one attraction in Hutchinson, but we are also ranked in the top 10% of all attractions worldwide based off of TripAdvisor reviews."

STRATACA is closed Mondays and opens at 9 a.m. Tuesday through Saturday and at 12:45 p.m. on Sunday.
