HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson firefighters helped rescue a person stuck in Cow Creek on Thursday evening.

Crews were dispatched just before 6:15 p.m. to an entrapment with a person stuck in mud up to his chest. When crews got to Cow Creek, they found a man in his mid-twenties stuck in the mud. That person's friends that called 911 said before they called, he was only in as deep as his knees, but by the time crews got there, he had sunk over a foot.

Firefighters used a rope to put around him to keep him from sinking any further and then got a ladder and put it next to him to allow him to use the strength he had left to help hoist him out of the mud.

Hutchinson Fire also wanted to thank assisting agencies Reno County Dispatch, Reno County EMS, Hutchinson Police and the City of Hutchinson Public Works Department.
