
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The USD 308 Board of Education heard a performance from the Hutchinson High School choir during the new Program Highlight segment on Monday.
The choir is the first club or organization to be recognized during the new recurring Program Highlight segment at BOE meetings. The segment will take place during the second BOE meeting of each month, and will feature students and staff showing off their talents to highlight the innovative and esteemed programs throughout USD 308.
Upcoming organizations and clubs to be highlighted include: elementary art, Skills USA, theater,business clubs, Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG), and more.
During the meeting the USD Board of Education also heard a presentation on the Leader In Me curriculum from Lynn Brown from Franklin Covey. Brown demonstrated the Leader In Me framework and goals that USD 308 staff will be trained on throughout the year.
Also last night the board approved a settlement with the K-JUMP lawsuit and approved an energy agreement with WoodRiver Energy. The district along with others filed a lawsuit against gas supplier Symmetry Energy after the late winter cold snap caused a significant spike in natural gas prices.
