Karen K. Vermillion 76, died Thursday August 17, 2023 at Wesley on Woodlawn Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. She was born June 12, 1947 in Anthony, Kansas to William and Elizabeth (Seifert) Hesser. On February 20, 1965 she married Kenneth Martin and he preceded her in death in 2014. She later married Jack Vermillion on June 12, 2020 at First Baptist Church in Newton and he survives of the home.
Karen was a payroll secretary for a school system and also worked part time at Heartland Credit Union in her retirement,
She is survived by her husband Jack of the home; daughters Shelly R. (Mike) Tritt and Sheila R. (Cuba) Martinez; sister Barbra (Robert) Roberts and 7 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents and first husband Kenneth; she is also preceded in death by a son in law
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Newton with Pastor Chip Bungard presiding. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday August 21, 2023 at Petersen Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m., to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Copeland Kansas Cemetery at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2023 with Pastor Jerry Smith presiding.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Newton and left in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
