WICHITA, Kan. — The Wichita Wizards (3-2) took a 97-86 lead with 5:30 remaining, but could not avenge its lone loss on the season.
The OKC Servants (8-0) used 30 Mo Wilson points, including a putback dunk with a minute left, and a James Toles And-1 triple to close the game on a 25-11 run.
Despite hot three-point shooting in the first half (eight made threes), the Wizards could not overcome 7-of-19 free-throw shooting and 27 turnovers. Wichita gave up 22 offensive rebounds.
Parker Austin led the Wizards with 29 points on 11-of-21 shooting, including 5-of-8 from three.
Austin's triple with 40.7 seconds remaining pulled Wichita within 105-104.
OKC's Richmar Smith scored on an offensive rebound with 34 seconds left to put the Servants back up three.
Austin banked in a triple on the other end to tie the game at 107.
Unfortunately, Austin fouled James Toles with 11.7 seconds remaining. Toles took the contact as he drilled a three.
Toles missed the free throw to keep the Servant lead at 110-107.
A 27th Wizard turnover with six seconds left led to another Toles free throw. OKC went 9-of-20 from the charity stripe.
Down 111-107 with 2.5 seconds left, Wichita still had a fighting chance.
Curtis Profit Junior got fouled 90 feet from the basket. He hit the first free throw and had to intentionally miss the second. The intentional miss was tipped away by the Servants to prevent any final heroics.
Profit finished with 20 points on 57% shooting.
