Annaliese Athey, 98, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Legends Senior Living, in Hutchinson, KS. Annaliese was born on October 29, 1927, in Fürth, Germany, the daughter of Carl Joseph and Anna Margarote Gönner.
Annaliese graduated in Fürth, Germany. On January 2, 1954, Annaliese married Bernard D. Athey in a military chapel in Fürth, Germany. They were married for 31 years before his passing in 1985.
Annaliese found great joy in knitting and gardening. She was especially meticulous in tending to her roses, taking great pride and pleasure in cultivating their beauty.
Annaliese was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bernard; nine siblings and her daughter, Ramona Athey.
Survivors include her children, Ilona (Terry Crossman) Oubre, Glen (Anora) Athey, Harry (Luna) Athey; sister, Erica; thirteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 9:00 a.m., Friday, September 4, 2026, at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W. Kenyon Ave., Denver, CO. Arrangements and care entrusted to Hutchinson Funeral Chapel & Crematory.
