Opal Mae Saner |1925-2023|

Opal Mae Saner, age 98, passed away with her family by her side at her home in Park City on Monday, January 9, 2023.  She was born January 1, 1925 to William and Cecilia McClain in Oklahoma.

Opal married the love of her life, Earl Saner, on June 14, 1945 in Wichita, Kansas, and together shared almost 65 years of marriage. They raised six children. Opal came to Wichita to work and while working at JC Penney's a handsome Air Force soldier came by and whistled at her. After a short courtship, he had to leave for active duty the day after they were married.  Opal worked as a cook at various schools: Bridgeport, Chisholm Trail and Wichita Heights. When the children were grown she went to work at Wesley Hospital in the linen department where she retired.

She is preceded in death by her husband Earl, sons Robert, Richard, Ralph, and two brothers.

Opal is survived by her daughters Sandra Woods (Howard) of Valley Center, Janet Maltby (Bill) of Madison, son Ronald Saner (Pam) of Park City, and daughter-in-law Vicki Saner of Park City, with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and Tinker the cat.

Memorials may be designated in Opal's memory to Park City Baptist Church, 1301 E. 61st St. N., Park City, Ks 67219.

Visitation 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, and Service 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, both held at Park City Baptist Church, Park City, Kansas. Graveside following the service at Kechi Township Cemetery, 6523 N. Hillside, Wichita, Kansas.
