Wanda (Estabrooks) Lehr Tipton, born July 12, 1934, in Hutchinson, KS died July 16, 2024 at home in Valley Center, Kansas surrounded by her 4 children. She is survived by her son, Don Lehr (Tricia), Wichita KS, son Bill Lehr (Su), Valley Center, KS, daughter KayLene Haug (Dewey), Valley Center, KS, and daughter Patty Walton (Jack), Sterling, KS; 8 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Lois Elms, Broomfield CO; and former husband Jerry Tipton. She was preceded in death by her parents J.W. and Katie Estabrooks, sister Alice Stoughton; and first husband Gary Lehr.
She graduated from Hutchinson High School class of 1952 and attended Salt City Business College. Her career as an accomplished bookkeeper spanned more than 60 years, beginning at a small family-owned business, Lehr’s Packing Company in Hutchinson, then Gibson’s Discount Center Hutchinson and Newton. The remainder of her career was spent at BG Products of Wichita where she was proud to be the 2nd staffer hired when BG was just getting started and remained a part of BG’s success as a growing international company until she retired. Throughout her life she was happiest being with and cooking for family, friends and coworkers. Following her retirement, she pursued her joys of cooking, gardening, playing bingo and sharing her love for antiques and collectibles with her friends at Metcalf Sisters Antique Store in Newton, KS.
The family is planning a celebration of life open house later this year. In lieu of flowers Wanda would be honored with donations to the KS Food Bank or your local food bank to help feed the hungry.
