
Buddy L. “Bud” Epley, 81, of Hutchinson, died March 5, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born November 23, 1941, in Pratt, to Vern and Agnes (Baxter) Epley.
Bud graduated from Pratt High School, in 1960. He owned and operated A1 Auto Mechanic Shop. Bud later worked for Dillons Warehouse, where he retired after 32 years of service.
Bud liked to spend time gardening, tending to his yard, and working on cars. He served as the union representative numerous times when Bud was a member of The International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Bud appreciated the friendship and camaraderie of his co-workers, as well as playing on bowling and pool leagues with them.
On July 20, 1963, he married Glenda "Sue" Kerr, in Preston, KS.
Bud is survived by: his wife of almost 60 years, Sue Epley, Hutchinson; daughter, Teri (Dan) Slavenburg, Goddard; granddaughter, Katie (Craig) Gorges, Wichita; grandsons, Mason and Tyler Slavenburg, Goddard; and sister, Verda (Lyle) Rader, Mullinville.
He was preceded in death by: his parents and brothers, Clifford, Morlen, Albert, and David.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel. Friends may sign his book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date in the Turon Cemetery.
