Kyle Lee Thompson, 48, of McPherson, KS, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024, surrounded by family and friends at McPherson Hospital.
Kyle was born on August 6, 1975, in Arkansas City, KS, the cherished son of Carl Lee and Karla Kay (Bose) Thompson. He attended Roosevelt Elementary School, McPherson Middle School, and graduated from McPherson High School in 1994. Kyle’s career included working at Viega Manufacturing and being a line supervisor for Watts Water Works in Kansas City.
He was a member of the McPherson V.F.W. Auxiliary and embraced a variety of passions throughout his life. He was an avid enthusiast of heavy metal music, particularly enjoying bands like Alice In Chains and Metallica. Kyle found joy in playing guitar, gaming, motocross racing, and paintballing. He enjoyed watching Hannity on the Fox News Channel with his father. Kyle also delighted in attending Renaissance festivals and counted "Pirates of the Caribbean" among his favorite films. He was known for his love of SpongeBob SquarePants, G.I. Joe action figurines, Pee-wee Herman, NASCAR #24, and Doberman Pinschers. Kyle was kind and compassionate with a dry sense of humor. He was a loving uncle to Avery and Cadence.
Survivors include his mother, Karla Thompson of McPherson, KS; brother, Chad Thompson of McPherson, KS; nieces, Avery and Cadence Thompson; and numerous extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Thompson (just 12 days prior on July 7, 2024), and his beloved Doberman Pinschers, Zoey and Sarge.
A celebration of Kyle's life will be held jointly with his father's on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the McPherson V.F.W. Post #2715, 120 S. Taft St., McPherson, KS.
