NEWTON, Kan. — According to a Tuesday social media post, in an effort to get rid of lead pipes nationwide, the EPA is requiring all cities to identify the materials used in their water systems.
So far, City of Newton staff have documented the pipes in about 2,800 locations around the city. If the city doesn't hear from you, staff may visit your home to help you complete the survey.
If you'd rather not have a knock at your door, you can complete the survey online at www.newtonkansas.com/plumbing.
