Karen Adell Schrott, 84, died August 4, 2024, at Diversicare of Hutchinson. She was born July 28, 1940, in Pratt, to Floyd and Lena Elizabeth (Cougher) Althaus.
Karen worked in the banking industry for over 30 years, and was responsible for data entry and account maintenance. A Hutchinson resident since 1961, she was of the Methodist faith. Karen enjoyed watching the Kansas City Chiefs and golf. She loved to read, and even had her own personal library. All animals held a special place in her heart, but Karen had a particular love for cats, including both her pet cats and cat figurines. Above all, Karen loved her family unconditionally, especially being a grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition, she spent many hours working on her family’s genealogy.
On May 5, 1962, she married Charles A. “Chuck” Schrott, in Hutchinson. He died February 11, 2000.
Karen is survived by: daughters, Julie Main (Mark) and Jodi Wright (Kevin), all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Joseph Boyle (Aron) of Wichita, Derrick Wright of Hutchinson, Baylee Reyes (Keven) of Wichita, and Jakob Main of Hutchinson; and a great-granddaughter, Nora Boyle, with another great-grandchild due any day.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Chuck; and brother, David.
Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Fairlawn Burial Park, 2401 Carey Blvd, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 12, 2024, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
