Coats For Kids 35th year brings in over 2000 coats

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The 35th year of the annual Coats for Kids drive with Ineeda Cleaners in Hutchinson was again a large success.

"We hit 2032 coats this year," said Rachel Nelson with Ineeda Cleaners. "We also had lots of blankets, gloves and sweaters."

The drive was founded by Ineeda Cleaners founder John Neal and lasts through the month of October. 

A typical year for the event is about 1400 to 1500 items.

Distribution of the coats took place on Saturday and continues Monday at the Salvation Army at 700 North Walnut.

 Monday's distribution time is  from 9 a.m. to noon.

For the coat distribution, photo ID is required for adults and children must be present to receive coats. No appointment is necessary for the coat distribution.

In addition, registration for the Thanksgiving and Christmas assistance programs with the Salvation Army in Hutchinson continues.

Registration is open through December 4 online, or you can register in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays between now and November 22 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

For either registration type for Thanksgiving and Christmas, you will need:

Photo ID, proof of address, proof of income, and SS cards OR medical card printout for all dependent children.
