MBB: Busters use program-record 132 points to edge No. 5 Dragons

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Garden City needed a program-record 132 points to edge the No. 5 Dragons in the Sports Arena Saturday night. 

Hutchinson (16-2, 10-2) scored its most points of the season while also giving up the most this year.

Seven players scored 20-plus points. 

Tone Hunter of Garden City (12-5, 6-5) led all scorers with 37.

Heru Bligen (27), Mo Diarra (26), and Jyre McCloud (20) all scored in double digits for the Broncbusters. 

Bligen finished with a double-double by adding 12 rebounds. Diarra grabbed 22 boards. 

Hutchinson got 24 points from Kaimen Lennox, 21 from Angelo Stuart and 20 from Kobe Campbell. Jacquez Yow scored 19 and finished with 10 rebounds. 

Nate Goodlow scored 12 points with five assists while Jayden Garrison came off the bench to add 10.

Garden City jumped out to a seven-point lead in the first half before Hutchinson battled back to take a 69-63 halftime lead.

Garden City shot 52.2% for the game and got 34 points from the free-throw line. 

Hutchinson put up 109 shots, but converted only 41.3%.

Hutchinson was 13 of 46 from the three-point line.

The combined point total (259) is the most in Blue Dragon basketball history. 

Garden City scored 80 points in the paint. 

The score was tied five times and the lead changed seven times.
