HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Victor and Martha Peña have owned El Patio for 11 years. The local business started off in a trailer and expanded into a restaurant on South Main St. As of Friday afternoon, the Peña's opened a liquor store across the street from their restaurant called The Beer Point.
Victor said he and his wife opened the Beer Point because it made sense with the type of food that's served at El Patio.
"My wife is taking care of the other business, El Patio," Victor said. It's a family business and we decided to open this thing. I don't know nothing about this business I'm just going to go in there and learn."
The Beer Point will serve some Mexican beer brands that include Modelo and Dos Equis. However, Victor said the store will have other options as well.
"We are going to see how can we do it the best way for them," Victor said.
The Beer Point is located at 903 S. Main St.. The stores hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. It is closed on Sunday.
