SOUTH HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Scott Boulevard between Andrew Avenue and Plum Street in South Hutchinson is closed for road repair until further notice.
According to Don Brittain with Reno County Public Works, this is to fix a problem that has developed on either side of the new Scott Boulevard bridge.
"The road, right as it approaches the bridge, they didn't get that material underneath the blacktop compacted," Brittain said. "It's sunk. I'm making them go on both the north end and the south end, cutting it back about 14 feet, removing the asphalt and all the material underneath it, putting back in crushed concrete, compacting it and APAC will come back in and lay the road again right there in front of the bridge on both ends."
Brittain said the new bridge itself is fine. They hope to get the repair work done by the end of the week, weather permitting.
