KANSAS CITY —One person died in an accident just before 1a.m. Friday in Kansas City, Missouri.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a pedestrian, who was not in a crosswalk, was crossing Winner Road from north to south near Booth, according to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino.
The pedestrian was in the westbound lane of the roadway. A westbound gray Chevrolet Trax struck the pedestrian in the westbound lane.
The Chevrolet driver initially left the scene of the collision but returned and the driver contacted officers. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased by hospital staff.
This is fatality #19 compared to #15 at this time last year, according to DiMartino. The accident remains under investigation.
