
Lora Lea Martin, 74, danced her last dance December 28, 2025, at Hospice House in Hutchinson. She was born October 30, 1951, in Iowa City, IA, to Charles Donald and Betty Louise (Dennis) Hemm.
In 1970, Lora graduated from Hutchinson High School and then attended Hutchinson Community College. For many years she was the secretary-treasurer for the family business Western Supply Company, Inc. in Hutchinson.
In her spare time, she enjoyed reading on her Kindle, playing Bunco, the thrill and excitement of online shopping, and joining with Jack in their auto related interests. Lora loved her Jeep and Corvette.
In 1968 Lora’s family moved to Hutchinson and as luck would have it, across the street from Kay, Jack’s best friend, Greg’s girlfriend. They were introduced soon thereafter and on August 3rd, 1974, she married Jack Douglas Martin, in Hutchinson, KS. They shared over 51 years of marriage.
Lora is survived by: her loving husband, Jack of Hutchinson, KS; sons, Doug (Heidi) Martin of Hutchinson, KS, and Scott (Faith) Martin of Burrton, KS; grandchildren, Harley (Daniel) Lingenfelter, Braedon Martin, Breckyn Martin, Jace Martin, and Maddox Martin; 1 great-grandson on the way; and siblings, Jeanine (Rob) Farlow of Jacksonville, FL, and Tom (Joan) Hemm of Nederland, CO.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Denise Hemm.
Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 17th, 2025, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Following the graveside service, there will be a celebration of life at Dillon Nature Center, Hutchinson. Casual attire please. Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hospice House of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
