HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Gregg Wamsley with the Hutchinson Public Library said there will be quite a bit of work going on there starting next month.

"Starting Sept. 1, we are going to be refreshing our meeting rooms," Wamsley said. "A remodeling project that is funded through a gift that was given to us a number of years ago. We've finally got a plan for using that funding, or at least some of it and giving our meeting rooms a much needed refresh. They get used a lot and they are ready for it."

Once the rooms are again available, library sponsored programs will receive first priority in scheduling. Otherwise, reservations are first come, first served and are subject to change, depending on the Library’s need for the meeting room.

"We've been told it will take about three months," Wamsley said. "We are planning, we hope, to have those meeting rooms back open by December and I think people will be happy and pleased with the work we're doing in those rooms. We're adding some amenities that people have asked for, for a long time."

All spaces are available free of charge to any group or individual in accordance with the Hutchinson Public Library meeting room policies.

"What they will be redoing is our auditorium, which is our biggest room," Wamsley said. "We'll be adding a kitchenette to that space and redoing the audio visual capabilities in that room. We have two smaller conference rooms that will be redone with some new A/V capabilities in those and we'll be adding a third smaller room down that hallway, so we'll have three small rooms and our large room available to the public. We'll also be adding a family bathroom down that hallway. It had bathrooms many, many years ago and because of some plumbing problems and other difficulties, we had to close those, but we're going to be fixing that back up."

As regular groups figure out new spaces to meet in, Wamsley will make sure the public is aware of where their book club or scout troop or other meeting is, since it won't be in those rooms for a few months.
