HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Fire Department took receipt of a generous gift yesterday from Tom Elliott and the staff at Elliott Mortuary. The department received a statue of a Buffalo that is to be placed at the new fire station, located at 2222 N. Main St.
When the new station opened its doors in June, the department adopted the theme of the Kansas State Fair’s mascot, “Ike” the bison. HFD then adopted its own logo of a buffalo to go on the station’s apparatus.

Tom and his staff also donated a buffalo head that is on display inside the new station. In a plaque presented to the department, Tom stated that “this magnificent bull buffalo is a gift to the brave men and women of the Hutchinson Fire Department.”
Chief Steven Beer said. "On behalf of myself, HFD, and the citizens of Hutchinson, we say thank you to Tom and your staff at Elliott Mortuary for this tremendous donation."
