William A. “Bill” Stewart II went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, August 7, 2023, in Lewisville, TX.  He was born December 27, 1950, in Salina, to William A. “Bill” and Doris O. (Landess) Stewart.

Bill Graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1969, and attended Hutchinson Community Junior College.  He served four years in the United States Navy as a Navy Aviation Rescue Swimmer (AIRRs).  In 1982, Bill graduated from Arlington Baptist College, Arlington, TX.

On July 11, 1981, he married Tammy Jo Lackey, in Fort Worth, TX.  They enjoyed 36 years of marriage, until her death in June 2017.

Bill is survived by:  sisters, Sally Stewart Wonsetler (Tony) of Inman and Becky Stewart of Hutchinson; brother, Pastor Jonathan Stewart (Lara) of Fort Worth, TX; nieces, Brooke Wonsetler Browning (John) of Wichita, Whitney Gette Kruckenberg (Caleb) of Fairfax, VA, Hannah Stewart Sievers (Chris) of Philadelphia, PA, Katie Gette Dornbos (John) of Wichita, and Jerusha Stewart Streichert (Andrew) of Fort Worth, TX; nephews, Clayton Wonsetler (Anna) of Hutchinson and Jonathan Stewart II (Erin) of Medford, OR; great-nieces, Gabby Sievers, Margaret Kruckenberg, and Juniper Streichert; and great-nephew, Henry Wonsetler of Hutchinson.  

Bill was preceded in death by:  his parents; sister, DeAnna George; and in-laws, Rev. Harmon and Lee Lackey. 

Bill enjoyed spending time with family, especially his nieces and nephews.  He was known for his gift of conversation, sense of humor, and quick wit.  Bill was a connoisseur of good restaurants.   He also enjoyed singing gospel music with his beautiful bass voice.  Bill loved studying the Bible and sharing what he learned from reading it.  

At the time of his death, Bill was working for Liberty Hearing Aids, Lewisville, TX.  He had no plans of retiring.  Bill loved his work and helping people. He had a real talent for fitting, programming, and selling hearing aids, working in the hearing aid field for 30 years.   Bill’s customers loved him, and he especially enjoyed helping veterans and the elderly.  Bill attended Denton Bible Church, Denton TX.  

Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Jonathan Stewart officiating.  Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Norris Bible Baptist Seminary, Fort Worth, TX, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS  67501.
