
MANHATTAN —Authorities continue working to determine the cause of a house fire in Manhattan.
Just after 6 p.m. Tuesday, fire crews were called out to 913 Pierre Street on the report of a fire in a two-story, single-family home, according to Deputy Fire Chief Ryan Almes.
When crews arrived on scene they found dense smoke coming from the second floor of the two-story home. The fire moved into the attic space and was extinguished within 30 minutes of crews arriving on scene.
Firefighters rescued a cat and dog from the residence. The loss was reported to be significant. Estimated loss is $60,000 in damage to the structure and $30,000 in damages to contents within the house, according to Almes. There were no injuries reported.
