Dr. Dave J. Johnston, D.D.S., aged 84, passed away peacefully on September 9th, 2024, at Pratt Health and Rehab.
He was born in rural Oklahoma to Hank and Blanche Johnston.
He is survived by 3 daughters; Shannon Johnston, Tamara Johnston, and Laura Johnston (m. Javier Badell) and 3 grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jimmy Johnston.
After serving as a tank mechanic in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany, he earned his Doctorate of Dentistry at University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry in 1968. He was a proud resident of Pratt and practiced general dentistry for 46 years. He was a member of Elks Lodge, American Legion, Shriner’s International and 12-30 Investment Club.
As an active outdoors enthusiast, his hobbies consisted of hunting, fishing, archery, collecting and shooting guns, gardening, camping and drinking beer.
Dave’s most endearing qualities included honesty, passion for animals, telling good stories and being funny, generous and loyal.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life with Military Honors at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, September 14, 2024 at the Pratt Elks Lodge.
Family will be present until 6:00 p.m. to reminiscence, remember and honor Dave. The family suggests that Memorial Donations be made to the Pratt Area Humane Society.
