Sharis Marie Ballard, 73, died December 23, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.  She was born May 27, 1950, in Garden City, to Charles Henry and Zora Waneta (Clinton) Moore, Sr.

Sharis graduated from Scott City High School and Hutchinson Community Junior College, in September 1971, with her nursing degree.  She was a registered nurse for over 35 years.  Her true passion was working in pediatrics and OB-GYN at the Hutchinson Clinic. Sharis enjoyed traveling, sewing, playing Bunco, and her book club.  Family was everything to Sharis, especially her four grandchildren.  She treasured attending all of their activities throughout the year.  Sharis was a member of Community Church of the Brethren, Hutchinson, and was currently attending Buhler Mennonite Church, Buhler.  

On December 21, 1969, she married Billy Cliff “Butch” Ballard, in Friend, KS.  They shared almost 48 years of marriage, before his death July 28, 2017.

Sharis is survived by:  her son, Brian Ballard (Georgia); four grandchildren, Jesse Ballard, Drew Ballard, Marlee Ballard, and Micah Ballard, all of Inman; sister, Veda Allen of Grand Junction, CO; brother, Charlie Moore (Darla) of Scott City; her cousin and traveling partner, Linda Collins; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents. 

Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Buhler Mennonite Church, 220 W. Avenue B, Buhler, with Pastor Willmar T. Harder officiating.  Friends may sign her book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, and 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.  Cremation has taken place.
