HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The United Way of Reno County is pleased with how the campaign is going through its first month and a half.
"We are at 30% of our goal," said Lisa Gleason with the United Way. "Our goal is to raise $1,250,000."
The United Way held an open house for their new offices and a cornhole tournament this past week and they are looking for other opportunities to get what they do in front of more community members.
"We have had such a great following of people who have grown up with us over the years and given to us faithfully," Gleason said. "We know that the younger generation is just learning about United Way and we want them to see how supporting us and being involved with our advocacy and volunteering for us can really help."
For campaign chair Ed Berger, who is doing this with his wife Carol, he knows they can't do it alone.
"We're very, very thankful," Berger said. "We have so many great captains on our team, going out and talking to businesses and giving a presentation, being able to show the video, encouraging people to be a part of this great program."
