
Sylvia Elaine Vesper, 78, of Hutchinson, died May 8, 2026, at Foundation Park Assisted Living, in Manhattan. She was born October 2, 1947, in Belleville, to Dean and Lois (Reed) Moore.
Sylvia graduated from Munden High School and received her degree in elementary education from Kansas State University. She was a homemaker until her children were raised and then worked as a paraeducator at the Early Education Center in Hutchinson for many years. Sylvia was a talented seamstress and quilter. She loved creating things for her family and friends. Sylvia loved the Lord and was a member of Grace Bible Church.
On January 25, 1969, she married Scott K. Vesper, in Munden. He survives.
Also surviving are her children, Todd Vesper (Emily) of Hutchinson, Jeremy Vesper (Macalei) of Basehor, Terri Hanenkamp (Andrew) of Manhattan; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Sandy Roerig of Shreveport, LA, Gerald Moore of Munden, Sharon Barr (Don) of Loveland, CO, Shirley Farkas of Henderson, NV; and many extended family members.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Glenda Moore.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Grace Bible Church, 1221 E 33rd Ave., Hutchinson, with Pastor Bart Horton officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Township Cemetery, Moundridge.
Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the church.
