HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Mayor Jon Richardson said that they aren't yet ready to vote on a contract for a permanent city manager, but it will happen soon.
"The city manager that we're working with, he's actually announced that he's leaving where he's at so he can take this job," Richardson said. "We're just ironing out exactly how that transition looks and putting that as part of his contract."
Interim City Manager Mary Grace Clements is still working hard to accomplish as much as she can before the ink is dry and maybe even a little bit after that.
"It's not going to be a cold, I'm out the door once you walk in the door," Richardson said. "We want to make sure that she's involved and there's some other aspects that she's, some projects that she's started on that she should probably see get finished, just because she's taken ownership of it."
Clements intends to do town hall meetings along with the new city manager in 2024 to get public feedback on some next steps for the city.
