Vicki Ruth (Baker) McClure, 80, of Hutchinson, died June 20, 2024, at Hospice House, with her loving husband and daughters by her side. She was born March 13, 1944, in El Dorado, KS, to Marion E. and Lola R. (O’Brien) Baker of Towanda.

Vicki graduated from Towanda High School in 1962 and from Pittsburg State University in 1966. She began her teaching career, which spanned over 30 years, in Wichita before moving to Hutchinson and teaching 3rd grade in Nickerson/South Hutchinson USD 309 for over 20 years. After retirement Vicki and her husband, Mike, enjoyed lots of traveling. She also volunteered at Hospice House for 16 years. Vicki was an avid reader and Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, listening to music of all kinds, but especially singing the old hymns, and reading her Bible. Always full of laughter, Vicki loved to spend time with her family and friends.

On June 11, 1966, Vicki married Michael S. McClure, in Towanda. They shared 58 years of marriage. He survives.

Also surviving are: her daughters, Heather McClure of Hutchinson, Angela McClure of Wichita; siblings, Nita Freeman of Norman, OK, Polly Bullard (Ralph) of Wichita, Steven Baker (Brandi) of Augusta, Scott Baker (Stef) of Broken Arrow, OK, and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; brother, Larry Baker; brother-in-law, G.W. Freeman; and Mike’s parents, Chet and Eileen McClure.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday July 13, 2024, at Elliott Chapel. The service will be livestreamed and the link to view it will be active at 1:45 the day of the service.

Inurnment will take place in Towanda Cemetery at a later date.

Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will greet friends beginning 1 hour prior to the service and following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cancer Council of Reno County or Hospice and HomeCare of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
