Lon Alexander Barkley, 77, of Cushing, OK, died June 9, 2024, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.  He was born October 9, 1946, in Russell County, KS, to James and Durline Myrtle (Spence) Barkley, Sr. 

Lon graduated from Haven High School.  He served in the Kansas National Guard, the United States Navy, and attended OCS (Officer Candidate School).  Lon retired as a correctional officer in Nevada.  He enjoyed rock climbing in his jeep, and traveling to various states to enjoy his hobby.  Lon was a firm and strong-willed brother and uncle.

He is survived by: siblings, Jim Barkley (Linda) of South Hutchinson, Robert Barkley of Irving, TX, John Barkley (Connie) of South Hutchinson, Craig Barkley (Mary) of Hutchinson, Wendy Drake (Hoss) of Hutchinson, David Barkley (Teresa) of Guam; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by:  his parents; stepfather, Bob Barkley; brother, Paul Barkley; and his little buddy, Roscoe. 

Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Ethel Reece Cemetery, Barnsdall, OK, with military honors conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
