HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Art Center's Annual Art Fair is Saturday at the Sunflower South building on the Kansas State Fairgrounds.

"There will be a raffle," said board member Barbara Withrow. "We have two beautiful, original works of art, one from Jeannette Mull, who is a local lady who is so beloved and from Jason Becker, something different for Jason, it's a car, it's an old car, very cool. There is also a table for kids. We will give them a sack with art supplies, which we did last year.

Thousands of people attend the event each spring.

"There will be glass, mosaics, ceramics, dolls, metal sculpture, mixed media, jewelry, chalk art, photography, sculpture, and of course, paintings."

The event is free to attend from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

"We have three different musical groups performing," Withrow said. "Lem Sheppard, African-American folk music and blues. That's from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Then, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., a very popular band, The Wonderers, which is a 60's style. Then 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. is Christian and Lorenzo Vieyra, an acoustic duo."

It is a juried art show with cash prizes for the winners. Over 50 artists have signed up with booths for their art. A concession stand will also be open in the building on Saturday.
